Resolutions Are Built To Fail 💥

Hi Reader,

It’s February, which usually comes with an uncomfortable realization:

Most New Year’s resolutions have quietly passed away.
No funeral. No announcement. Just… gone. 😅

And honestly? That’s not a failure.
They didn’t fail because you failed.
They failed because resolutions are built to fail by design.

➡️ Resolutions are usually rooted in shame (“I should be different”) and blame (“If I just tried harder…”). And we know this, especially in our fight against obesity, shame and blame never lead to real, lasting change.

What does lead to change?

✅ Education.
✅ Understanding.
✅ And practice in community.

That’s why we created the Atomic Habits Deep Dive inside the BariNation Support Community.

🚫 This isn’t a book club.
🚫 It’s not a challenge.
🚫 And it’s definitely not about fixing yourself.

It’s a guided, shame-free learning experience where we:
✨ Learn how habits actually work in real human bodies
✨ Reflect without judgment
✨ Practice one small habit, chosen with intention
✨ Use community support to turn knowledge into lived change

Led by Melanie Lindell, LMHC (and bariatric patient), this Deep Dive is about transforming the way it actually happens, quietly, sustainably, and with compassion and safety.

No pressure.
No starting over.
No blame.

Just learning, support, and one small shift, practiced together.

If January’s approach didn’t work, this is your invitation to try something that wasn’t designed to shame you in the first place.

Small habits matter.
Support changes everything.
And you don’t have to do this alone.

I will be participating as a member and patient and I invite you to join me.

In support,
April Williams
Founder & CEO, BariNation

P.S. You don’t have to finish the book or even read itto participate; curiosity and openness are more than enough. 💙

Hi Reader, For so many of us, the message has always been the same: Lose weight, and everything will get better. But what if that’s not actually the goal? This week on the BariNation Podcast, we’re joined by Dr. Damon Tanton for a powerful conversation that reframes obesity treatment around what truly matters: metabolic health and overall wellness, not just the number on the scale. “What many don’t realize is that other factors affect an individual’s metabolic health, beyond diet and...
