Feeling Stuck or Uninspired In Your Bariatric Journey?

Hi Reader,

There is something about the transition from summer to fall that offers us a perfect moment to turn inward.

Life after bariatric surgery isn’t a straight line. Some days feel empowering. Other days feel heavy, confusing, or even discouraging.

We also know that when the honeymoon is over and we start to get the hang of bariatric life, we start to wonder "what's next?"

If you’ve ever felt a little lost along the way, you’re not alone.

This journey does not come with a road map. But we have found something that can serve as that, in every stage of the journey.

That’s why we’re so excited to bring a brand-new experience to BariNation: The Bariatric Hero’s Journey.

The Hero’s Journey is a timeless story framework that reminds us:
✨ Struggles aren’t failures, they’re part of the path.
✨ Challenges help us discover our strength.
✨ No hero walks alone, we all need allies and mentors.
✨ Every story has meaning, and every hero has wisdom to share.

Starting on October 9th, we’ll explore the Hero's Journey together, learning how this "map" can help guide us through each stage of the journey.

This experience is a part of our BariNation Community Membership, and we invite you to join us.

No matter where you are in your journey, this learning will apply to you.

There are 12 stops along that way and each week, we will spend time identifying what it can look and feel like through learning, discussion, and reflection.

It’s a powerful way to reframe your bariatric experience and remind yourself that you are not just slogging this journey, we are the hero in our our story.

💙 You don’t have to do this alone. Let's discover together the power of embracing our heros' role in our own life.

Hi Reader, This week, we are excited to share an encore of episode 229 with Dr. Sarah Hayek, who shares profound insights from her husband's bariatric surgery journey. The emotional and mental hurdles faced when considering bariatric surgery are great and Dr. Hayek has had a front row seat to those barriers, guiding her husband through the pre and post-op process. She saw firsthand how powerful curiosity and community are, how pivotal they are in overcoming personal barriers, as well as the...

Hi Reader, In our latest episode, we explore the empowering BariNation mantra of "space and grace" with Jonathan Cleveland, a dedicated member of the BariNation Support Community. You might be wondering what space and grace means. Or maybe you want to understand how it can be a powerful tool we use to shift our mindset around facets of life impacted by the disease of obesity. Space and grace is about giving yourself room to grow and forgiving your own missteps, which can lead to lasting...

Hi Reader, When it comes to your bariatric journey, curiosity isn’t just a nice trait, it’s a game-changer. Instead of judging a choice, a feeling, or a setback, curiosity invites you to notice what’s happening with kindness and without shame. Curiosity sounds like: “Why might my body be asking for this right now?” “What can I learn from this moment?” “How could I support myself differently next time?” This gentle shift helps turn guilt into growth, fear into clarity, and confusion into...
